Performance Considerations for Web Services
- zJournal, Dec. 2003 - it's coming, so we'd better
get on the bus rather than stand in front of it! Building distributed Web
applications with Web Services require common sense ... and an understanding of
what the overhead issues are behind Web Services.
How To Create A Web Service with Microsoft .NET - Proceedings, Dallas TX., CMG2003, Dec., 2003 - All you need to get started to code a simple Web Service using Microsoft's .NET development environment. Contains references for VB, C++, C#, Java and for legacy applications like DB2

Using
Booleanized Data To Discover Better Relationships Between Metrics
(81K
.pdf) - How
can we find meaningful relationships between measurements? Historically,
performance analysts have defined relationships and used standard
statistical measures to test relationship validity. We (Susan Imberman,
Bob Orchard, and Domanski) first review a technique (previously discussed
in 'Discovering Relationships Between Metrics' below) that arranges
measurement data so that an analyst can query the data to observe existing
relationships. The Booleanization step in the algorithm is analyzed to see
how well relationships generated by the automated Booleanization methods
of mean, mode, median, and clustering correlate to relationships generated
by Boolean thresholds defined by an expert.
